Subject: [bozone-orgs] Board of Health, COVID Takes Many Tools, This
Will Take A While

Hey everyone, three quick COVID items for the coming week.
*Board of Health*
As you probably know the Board of Health meets Tuesday at 7am to
consider a mask mandate. Please note only comments submitted since
Thursday, when the draft rule was released, will be considered. Comments
can be sent via email to BOHPublicComment at gallatin.mt.gov
<mailto:BOHPublicComment at gallatin.mt.gov>. The Board will accept written
comments until 4 PM on Monday, July 13. Learn more about Tuesday’s
meeting, how to listen/attend, and access action items here:
https://www.gallatinmedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/7_9_2020-BOH-Meeting.docx.pdf.
In the days ahead, if you have questions about masks or other COVID
issues, please see the Health Department’s main COVID page:
https://www.healthygallatin.org/coronavirus-covid-19/ or contact theCall
Center, open every day 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 406-548-0123 or email
callcenter at readygallatin.com <mailto:callcenter at readygallatin.com>.
*Tackling COVID Takes Many Tools*
While the mask requirement likely will pass in some form, it is not a
singular magic answer but rather only one of several tools needed to
keep yourself, loved ones, and colleagues safe. It is essential that
each of us continue to “Avoid the Three Cs” (closed spaces, crowded
places, and close-contact settings) in addition to wearing a mask,
washing your hands, staying at home if sick, and other common-sense steps.
We all want a safe community. Adopting all these tools is necessary for
school to start safely later this summer or for our businesses to remain
open. No one wants to have to close down again.
*This Will Take A While*
Even as we work to keep ourselves safe, it’s increasingly clear that
COVID will be with us for many months. While this uncertainty gives each
of us pause, I am reassured that we know the steps necessary to keep us
safe and that we can do this together.
Each of us can help lead during this time. The Board of Health, with the
support of Bozeman and other local governments, will set guidelines and
practices. At the same time, businesses and individuals remain essential
as well and many already have risen to the task to keep their families,
coworkers, and customers safe. The combination of regulation along with
individual responsibility and leadership will best see us through these
difficult times.
Working together, there is a safe way forward. During the coming months
it’s important that we remain safe and smart, and that we are kind to
one another. Let us each strive to maintain the remarkable goodwill and
trust in one another that we’ve built up in the past months as we go
through this crisis together. I am proud to say I’m from Gallatin County
and Bozeman.
Thanks everyone. Be safe, be smart, be kind,
Chris Mehl, 406-581-4992
