Hi Neighbors -

The notice at bottom from Crosscut may be of interest.

It's getting late in the season for weed control, but there are still a 
few useful things you can do:

- Burdock now has its 6-foot-tall, annoying burr stems highly visible. 
They're dangerous to small birds, but very satisfying to cut with a 
machete. Stack for disposal later.

- It's probably too late to cut thistle without spreading the fluff 
everywhere, but you can use a GPS app to mark infestations for mowing or 
other control earlier in the season next year.

- Same goes for knapweed, which now has purple flowers, but may also 
have viable seed that you don't want to spread around with equipment. 
You can still cut or pull the stems and then bake them in a black trash 
bag before disposal.

- Hound's tongue now has 1-3 foot seed heads; each one you cut is 100 
burrs that won't come in with the dog.
