Hi neighbors -
The morning update is attached (see Ted Mather's notes below).
The virtual community meeting this evening will be streamed on facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/CusterGallatinNationalForest
Normally a recording is available afterwards as well.
Nancy Lande checked with MT DOT on the disposition of burned trees in
the highway corridor. Here's the answer:
/I spoke with:/
/
/
/Kyle de Mars Bozeman Maintence 556.4704/
/
/
/About the blackened trees in the state right of way. First, an
interesting fact. He said that just because a tree is black, it doesn’t
mean that it won’t grow back. Next, they will cut trees that are in
danger of falling on the road and make further assessments. Normally,
the Power lines and utility boxes are within 2-3 feet before private
land and fences. You can call him directly. They will be taking a drive
up the canyon sometime soon. Kyle is the head of maintenance /
/
/
/I hope that helps. Also, he mentioned that the burnt grass will be good
for spring renewal, which is what I thought, since I know farmers often
burn their grass before the following season.
/
I noticed this morning that green grass is already coming up. Let's hope
for rain in dribbles, not a deluge, until cover is established.

All,
Attached find the Bridger Foothills Fire 9/16 morning update.
*Special notes:
*
* Starting today, we will be sending out updates in the morning only
(unless fire activity warrants an additional evening update).
* Bridger Canyon Road is now open. SLOW DOWN and watch for
firefighting traffic and residents potentially moving livestock.
* The Forest modified the area closure, shrinking the closed area.
Make sure you KNOW BEFORE YOU GO. Check the Closures tab on the
Inciweb site or refer to the informational graphic emailed last evening.
* Virtual community meeting tonight via Facebook Live on the Custer
Gallatin NF page, 7 p.m.
Thank you,
